"Here’s a couple of pictures of the bass in action (The A5 Blues Band) at the Hemel Hempstead “Music on the Moor” festival 2007. So many other bassists immediately recognised your work!"
-David Crowder (2008)
"My Hi-tech RL was onstage with us in front of 20,000 people at the Manchester MEN Arena. We took it on four dates supporting Take That and it performed admirably."
"Your bass is amazing, and now i am playing it every day I can see even more benefits than i did when it was used less freqently. It truely is a work of genius!"
-Ed Mayo (2008)
I have finally played my new Bass at a gig and I can honestly say it was a great experience.
The sound is fantastic. It mirrored my amplified acoustic Bass perfectly. In fact, the tone was better. I often swap between Bass and Bass Guitar, for certain numbers, but the action, and the versatility of the EQ, made it possible to stay on the Bass almost all night.
We're a large band (there's 14 of us) so space is a bit limited but I was able to stand right in front of the amp. without a hint of feedback.
People in the audience commented on the clarity of the Bass sound and even the Brass section were full of compliments, and that's a first!
On a practical note, I was able to load the Bass into the car without any effort and, to be able to hold it up, with one hand, while I adjusted the tail pin, was a novel experience.
I expected to be pleased with the Bass but even that has been surpassed. Thanks again for all your help and advice, and for providing me with the instrument I have been searching for.
With best wishes,
Peter Vickery" (2007)
"It's more than a month ago now that I received my package including the electric bass, amplifier and tuner. I've received it in good order and could start playing right away. As I had never played an electric bass before I was surprised that I hardly experienced any difference with playing my acoustic bass. I feel the vibrations of the strings and hear the tones of the amplifier and together it gives me the sensation as if I were playing my acoustic bass. The instrument is easy to play...Thanks for this quality instrument and the good service that you have provided."
-Frans van der Weerdt (2006)
"Recieved my bass yesterday, wow, I'm seriously impressed. Cant take this smile off my face and cant wait to get home from work to start playing it again! I never thought it would sound so so good! Absolutely blown away!"
-Tim Rea (2006)
"Hi Alan, Thank you, thank you, for the glowing reviews of MY bass, I know you created and made it, but to read about the very instrument I have in those reviews felt as if it was extra special. The writers are spot on with everything they say about the construction, sound and the playing ability of the bass. As you know my playing days during the sixties were with a Double Bass and Fender Jazz bass guitar, playing jazz and a mixture of music. Your Hi Tech RLB Bass feels and sounds like the two put together which is an incredible achievement. I'm having great fun with the guys in the band who are all of the same era as myself and they can't believe the ease of portability and of course the sound of the bass. Thanks again for all your help with everything"
-Tony Coe (2005) of "The John Allan Trio"
"I'm already very impressed with the playability and consistency of tone, also how solid the instrument is - not a rattle or buzz to be found!"
-Russell Cowin - King Chiaullee (2005)
"Just a line or 2 to let you know that the left handed bass has been out to play at the Dragon Hotel in Montgomery. Performed with the 'Millennium Jazz Band'.......there were 10 musicians in the band ( well 9 + me ) and all commented on the excellent sound produced."
"Thanks so much for the wonderful blonde bombshell you built for me. I used it at a big gig just 8 days after recieving it - it plays beautifully and sounds and looks fantastic. I couldn't recommend it more to anyone wishing to get a big electrified upright sound at a reasonable price. Cheers."
"The bass is doing well. I have done 2 successful gigs with it now and I am impressed with the sound and have had many comments about how right it looks with the band."
"Just a quick message to say I received the bass last Friday, and everything's going fine, It looks stunning and everyone that's seen it agrees, it plays and sounds great, just trying to find 'my sound' at the moment. Gigged it on Wednesday at my local. For an audience stuck in traditionalism (and come to mention it some of the band as well), it was received well. My favourite comment coming from the trombone player who said 'At last we've got some room on stage.' High praise indeed!"
"Hi Alan, I have just had a very busy weekend with my stick, gigs on Friday and Saturday evening and busking all day Saturday. Once again your bass received some excellent comments (for both sound and looks) and Gerry a bass player from Brightontook one of your flyers and promised to give you a call. The only problem I have is that several people have said how much better I play on your bass compared to my old double, if I try to use my old double again I may get the sack!!! Regards, Andy."
"Alan, Hi- thought you might like to know that the Bassmaster is working hard. So far it's stood up to cheesy jazz gigs and some sets with an 8 piece swing band. Last weekend used it for some of a gig in a marquee-even though the temperature was all over the place, the tuning didn't slip once. I've been really impressed- and had lots of very positive comments from bothplayers and non-players....I recently took the old double bass for a run of shows in Leamington - lots or arco stuff so back to the pickup/outboard preamp setup. Really made me appreciate the lack of feedback with the Bassmaster at some pretty industrial volumes! Having a whale of a time with it, thanks again, all best wishes, Jon."
"Alan, Bass travelled well, arrived Tuesday - still in tune - and looks very smart. Thank you. Found a nice workable sound with my amp and looking forward to giving it's first blow through with the swing band on Saturday. First impressions very good. Very pleased so far with how stable it seems."
"Very pleased with the way the bass handled in rehearsal on Sunday. Look forward to gigging with it. Bags of bottom end- GREAT! and some nice mellow tones hen sliding around in ballads. With many thanks and best wishes, Jon Heywood."
"Thank-you very much for all your help regarding the bass and it sounded ten times better than expected."
